A job transfer brought him in close proximity with the members of the Progressive Artists’ Group in Mumbai, where he chose to pursue a full-time career as an artist.
In Krishen Khanna’s works the exterior reality does not seem to be treated with any “methodical search”. In other words, nature has been suppressed for achieving “plastic qualities” or semi aesthetic values.
Chola migrations reproduces, in accordian format, the large feet long mural done by Krishen Khanna in pencil and is a celebration of history of the Cholas of southern India during, roughly, the tenth to the fourteenth centuries.
